Phase I (2000-2003)

Bringing Technology to the Classrooms

Prior to the 2000-2003 phase of investing in UCR classrooms, most multimedia technology was only available on a delivery basis. In-classroom technology was limited to fixed televisions. From 2000-2003 a major effort was undertaken to equip General Assignment classrooms with more of the tools faculty need for instruction.

Additions & Upgrades

  • LCD Projectors
  • VHS & DVD
  • Stereo Sound Systems
  • Wireless Microphones & Public-Address systems
  • Motorized Screens - minimum 8 ft wide
  • Infrastructure Improvement
    • Additional Boards - boards were added to allow for board annotation while projecting material on screen.
    • Zoned lighting - provides the ability to dim the lights at the front of the classroom, while the rest of the room is well lit.
    • Dual light controls - All lights can be controlled from the multimedia station, as well as from the door entry.
  • Classroom realignment - As necessary, the "front" of the room was moved away from the entry/exit door to minimize lecture disruption.
